Terms & Conditions
Last updated 29 September 2026. These terms govern your use of ZebaPay's collection, ledger and settlement services.
1. Who we are
ZebaPay ("ZebaPay", "we", "us") is a technology services platform operated by MB Digital Services in Nigeria. We provide software that lets a business collect payments from its customers, track those collections in a ledger, and settle the proceeds to the business's own verified bank account.
ZebaPay is not a bank and does not take deposits. Account numbers, transfers and settlement are executed by licensed banks and licensed payment service providers who partner with us. Funds are held by those regulated partners, not by ZebaPay.
2. Accepting these terms
By creating an account, using the console, or calling our API you accept these Terms & Conditions and our Privacy Policy. If you do not accept them, you must stop using the service.
You must be at least 18 years old and legally able to enter a contract. If you register for a company, you confirm you are authorised to bind that company.
3. Verification (KYC) and tiers
Access to collections and settlement is tiered and depends on verification. Tier 1 allows limited daily volume after basic identity details. Tier 2 requires additional identity verification and is subject to review. Tier 3 requires CAC business registration and approval by our compliance team.
We verify identity numbers through licensed verification providers. We store only the last four digits of any BVN or NIN. We may ask for additional documents, refuse verification, or downgrade a tier where information is incomplete, inconsistent or suspected to be false.
Daily and per-transaction limits apply per tier and are enforced automatically. Limits may change without prior notice for risk or regulatory reasons.
4. Collections and virtual accounts
Virtual account numbers issued to you are for collecting payments for your own goods and services, or for the goods and services of merchants you have onboarded and are responsible for. They are not personal savings accounts and must not be used to warehouse third-party funds.
You may not resell, sublicense or redistribute virtual accounts to any person or business you have not verified and cannot identify.
5. Settlement
Settlement is paid only to a single bank account you nominate, and only where the account name matches your verified legal name. Payouts to third-party accounts are not supported.
Changing your settlement account requires your transaction PIN, an email confirmation code, and approval by our team. Until approval, the previous settlement account remains in force.
Settlement may be delayed where a transaction is under review, disputed, suspected fraudulent, or where a regulator, bank or partner requires it.
6. Fees
Collection and payout fees are shown in the console before you confirm a transaction and are deducted from the transaction. Current payout fees are ₦20 for amounts up to ₦5,000, ₦25 for amounts up to ₦50,000, and ₦50 above that. Verification of a higher tier may carry a one-off fee of ₦100.
We may change fees with reasonable notice in the console or by email. Third-party bank or provider charges, where they apply, are passed through.
7. Security of your account
You are responsible for your password, your 4-digit transaction PIN, your device unlock, and your API keys. Every transfer requires your transaction PIN. Treat API secret keys like a password; anyone holding them can act as you.
Tell us immediately if you suspect unauthorised access. We may suspend access, rotate keys, or block transactions to protect you or the platform.
8. Acceptable use
You may not use ZebaPay for: money laundering or terrorism financing; fraud, scams, phishing or Ponzi schemes; gambling or betting without the required licence; unlicensed cryptocurrency exchange or trading; sale of weapons, illegal drugs, or stolen data; adult content involving minors; pyramid schemes; or any activity prohibited by Nigerian law or by our banking partners.
You may not present ZebaPay, or any service built on it, as a bank, a deposit-taking institution, or a licensed financial institution.
Breach of this section may result in immediate suspension, reversal or freezing of transactions, reporting to law enforcement and the relevant authorities, and permanent closure of your account.
9. Chargebacks, errors and reversals
Where a payment is credited in error, duplicated, fraudulent or reversed by a bank, we may debit your balance or withhold settlement to recover the amount. If your balance is insufficient, the debt remains payable by you.
Report any transaction you believe is incorrect within 30 days. We investigate with our banking partners and inform you of the outcome.
10. Service availability
We work to keep the service available but do not guarantee uninterrupted operation. Banking partners, networks and regulators can cause downtime outside our control. Where our primary rail is unavailable, new account issuance may be temporarily refused rather than fulfilled unsafely.
Scheduled maintenance is announced in the console where practical.
11. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, ZebaPay is not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential loss, loss of profit, loss of business, or loss of data. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the fees you paid us in the three months before the claim arose.
Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded under Nigerian law.
12. Suspension and closure
You may close your account at any time once your balance is settled and no dispute is open. We may suspend or close your account for breach of these terms, for risk or compliance reasons, or where required by a partner or regulator.
On closure, we settle any remaining balance to your verified settlement account after deducting amounts owed, subject to compliance checks.
13. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. Material changes will be notified in the console or by email before they take effect. Continued use after the effective date means you accept the updated terms.
14. Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Disputes are subject to the jurisdiction of the Nigerian courts. We ask that you contact our support team first so we can try to resolve the matter directly.
